A semi built-in dishwasher
As opposed to fully integrated dishwashers, a semi integrated dishwasher still makes it obvious that it’s in your kitchen. With a fully integrated dishwasher, the control panel is visible on the outside. This can be very handy, for example because you can then see what the temperature of the dishwater is and how long it will take before your dishes are done.
With these semi integrated dishwashers, the front panel is right up to where the control panel is. So up until that point, the dishwasher has exactly the same look as the rest of your kitchen cabinets. The front of a fully integrated model, however, is completely covered by the front panel, so it looks completely the same as the rest of your kitchen cabinets.
A freestanding dishwasher or an integrated dishwasher
A built-in dishwasher, whether a fully integrated dishwasher or a semi-integrated dishwasher, are always more expensive than a freestanding model. So if you want to replace your current dishwasher with a new model, you should bear in mind that the type of dishwasher will affect the price you will pay.
Please also bear in mind that (fully) integrated dishwashers may require you to move your water pipes and socket. The dishwasher may have adjustable feet that allow you to partially adjust the height, but that’s not nearly enough.
Also, the dishwasher needs to fit. There are different dishwashers with different sizes. In a small kitchen, you may choose to install a narrower model, but only if you often run a half load in a larger model. This way, you can be sure you won’t run out of space.
