Where to buy a dishwasher
Want to buy a new dishwasher, but don’t know where to turn? No problem, we’ve figured it out for you. In no time, you’ll have found a great dishwasher and washing your dirty dishes by hand will be a thing of the past!
Buy a built-in or free-standing dishwasher
You can buy a built-in dishwasher or a freestanding dishwasher from a physical store that sells white goods or a webshop (such as coolblue.nl or bol.com). With both options, you have the option to have the appliance delivered to your home and for an additional fee, most companies will install the dishwasher. This is a particularly useful feature with a fully integrated model, so you can be sure right away that your new dishwasher will get your dishes clean.
A third option is to buy your dishwasher second hand. However, you often have to pick up and install the dishwasher yourself. With a fully integrated model, that can be quite annoying. On the other hand, a second-hand model is often a lot cheaper than a new dishwasher.

Where to buy a free-standing dishwasher
A freestanding dishwasher can be placed anywhere in your kitchen, as long as there is an outlet and water supply and drainage. The advantage is that you don’t have to sacrifice a kitchen cabinet. You just put the freestanding dishwasher where you have space, and if you put a top on it, you can even use it as an extra countertop!
Another big advantage of freestanding dishwashers is that they are often slightly cheaper than a built-in dishwasher. In addition, you also have plenty of choice because you don’t have to consider the dimensions. You can simply choose the freestanding dishwasher that meets your needs and desires.
Cleaning your dishwasher is also a little more complicated when you have a freestanding model. This is because it is also important to keep the outside clean. With a fully integrated model, you don’t have to worry about that because the outside is covered by your cabinet.
Energy efficient dishwasher
One final advantage of freestanding dishwashers is that you have more to choose from in terms of energy-efficient models. A good example is a dishwasher with the half-load option, which allows you to wash your dirty dishes even when you don’t have that many dishes. Less water and energy is then used to get everything clean.
Where to buy a built-in dishwasher
If you want a dishwasher to blend in with the design of your kitchen, you should choose a built-in dishwasher. You have a choice of two types of dishwashers:
Fully integrated dishwasher
A fully integrated dishwasher has the control panel on the inside. The front of the unit is completely plain, so you can stick the front panel of your kitchen cabinets on it. With most dishwashers, you have the choice between a 45 or 60 cm wide model. A 45 cm wide dishwasher can hold a considerably smaller number of place settings, which is only useful if you have few dishes and a larger model often runs at only half load. A small model with an adjustable upper basket can make a small dishwasher a little more attractive for a larger household, as it allows you to put more dishes in a smaller area.
The fully integrated dishwasher is therefore completely built into your kitchen, from the outside it just looks like a normal kitchen cabinet.
Semi integrated dishwasher
With this kind, the control panel is on the outside, so you can only stick your front panel half way on it. So the dishwasher does stand out among your kitchen cabinets. The advantage, however, is that you don’t have to open the dishwasher to turn it on or off, and often you can easily read the remaining time as well.
So when buying a dishwasher, think carefully about what you think is important – do you want your dishwasher to blend in with the design of your kitchen or do you want to be able to operate it from the outside?
