How long does a washing machine program take

On average, a wash program takes about 2.5 hours. This of course depends on your washing machine and the selected wash cycle. In general, condenser dryers and air-flow dryers wash faster than a heat pump dryer. This is because they heat using a heating element. This works quickly, but it also consumes a lot of energy. Also, most modern washing machines have a variety of washing programs that can also vary in duration. Often they have an eco-program, which usually takes longer, but also a short wash program, which allows you to finish faster. Nowadays, some washing machines even have programs that allow you to clean half a wash within an hour.

Until what time can you run a washing machine

There are no legal rules or guidelines about when you can turn on your washing machine. In fact, because electricity is often cheaper on weekends and nights, this is the time for many to do their laundry. However, in some cases, such as apartment complexes, using a washing machine can be a nuisance at night. During the spin cycle, a washing machine can produce quite a bit of noise. There are guidelines and rules about producing noise during the night, but very few washing machines – if they are positioned correctly and used properly – exceed this limit.

How deep is a washing machine

How deep a washing machine is varies by model. First, there is a difference between front-loaders and top-loaders. With top loading washing machines, which have the opening to the drum at the top, the dimensions are not variable. Top loaders almost always have a depth of 60 cm. Front loading machines, which have the door at the front of the drum, have a depth of between 60 and 70 cm, including projections. Often the deeper the washing machine, the larger the drum. A deeper washing machine therefore has, in most cases, a larger fill weight; room for more laundry per wash.

How does a washing machine work

After loading the laundry and detergent, close the door and choose a wash program. When you press start the door will lock automatically. Water is pumped through the hose from the soap dish to the drum. The water level rises and so does the air pressure in the drum. When the pressure is high enough the pressure switch shuts off the water supply. The drum begins to spin and mixes the water and detergent with your laundry. Meanwhile, the water is brought to the set temperature. When the laundry is clean, the water is drained off, after which clean, cold water flows into the drum to rinse the detergent residues from the laundry. Once this is done, this water is also drained and the washing machine starts to spin; the drum spins very fast, pushing the excess water out of the laundry.

How wide is a washing machine

The standard width of a washing machine is 60 cm, and the height is 85 cm. This generally applies to front loaders; washing machines that have your door on the front of the drum. Top-loading washing machines, which have the opening on the top of the drum, are generally a lot narrower and a little higher. Top loaders usually have a width of 40 cm and a height of 90 cm. Because of this, the drum of a top-loading washing machine is smaller, which means it can hold less laundry per wash.

How full may a washing machine

How much laundry fits in a washing machine depends on the size of the washing machine. For this, we look at the number of kg of fill weight. There are washing machines with a fill weight starting at 6 kg, and this can go up to 12 kg. There are some exceptions with a fill weight of 17 kg. We recommend that you do not exceed the maximum load for your washing machine; this will not get all your laundry equally clean and you could damage the appliance. If you don’t know or can’t remember the maximum load for your washing machine, we recommend you consult the user manual. Don’t have it anymore? Then you can often find out by googling the model.
