Why use a pull switch for a washing machine

A pull switch is a switch that you operate with a cord. By pulling the cord, you easily flip the switch. By means of a red ramp, you can see whether it is on or off. The purpose of a pull switch is to prevent the group to which your washing machine is connected from becoming overloaded. Pull switches are not mandatory, but are generally recommended when the group value of the washing machine is not on a 30 milliAmpere earth fault, or the connection of the washing machine is in the bathroom. In this case, a pull switch is extra safe because the electrical connection is waterproof, and thus protected from the moisture in your bathroom.

How long does a washing machine program take

On average, a wash program takes about 2.5 hours. This of course depends on your washing machine and the selected wash cycle. In general, condenser dryers and air-flow dryers wash faster than a heat pump dryer. This is because they heat using a heating element. This works quickly, but it also consumes a lot of energy. Also, most modern washing machines have a variety of washing programs that can also vary in duration. Often they have an eco-program, which usually takes longer, but also a short wash program, which allows you to finish faster. Nowadays, some washing machines even have programs that allow you to clean half a wash within an hour.

How often should you clean a washing machine

In order to maximize the life and wash quality of your washing machine, it is important to clean it regularly. Fortunately, cleaning your washing machine sounds like a bigger job than it actually is. How often do you clean your washing machine? At least try to wipe the rubbers of your washing machine with a cloth after every wash. Dirt often sticks there, such as dust, soap scum and hair. It is also a good idea to do a boil wash once a month; a wash program at 60 degrees or higher. You can add a dash of vinegar or a cup of soda to this, this has a cleansing effect and descales your washing machine and pipes at the same time. Finally, once every six months, check the filter and rinse it clean.

What does a washing machine cost per time

Looking at energy costs, a washing machine uses an average of 0.5 kWh per wash. That is equivalent to about 0.12 euros. The cost of water is around 0.07 euros per wash. So you end up with an average of 0.19 euros per wash. How much you exactly spend per wash depends on a number of factors. Not every washing machine and every laundry program uses the same amount of energy and/or water. In addition, the current energy and water prices also play a role. Finally, what you can also count on are the costs for your detergent and any fabric softener.

How big is a washing machine

When you talk about the size of a washing machine, you can aim at different aspects; the actual dimensions or the amount of fill weight. Both depend on the model of washing machine. The fill weight indicates how many pounds of laundry you can put in the drum per wash. This starts at about 6 kg and can go up to 12 kg. The size of a washing machine differs (largely) because of the type of washing machine; top loading or front loading. A front-loading washing machine usually has a height of 85 cm, a width of 60 and a depth between 60 and 70 cm. Top loaders have a height of 90 cm, a width of 40 cm and a depth of about 60 cm. As a result, top loaders often have a smaller fill weight.

What is grease lice in a washing machine

Contrary to what you may initially think, grease lice are not actual lice. Grease lice is a yellow-gray, oily, often sticky substance left behind in the washing machine. Often this is a combination of dander, grease, detergent and hair. It causes your laundry to smell, even after it has been washed. Because grease lice are a breeding ground for bacteria, your laundry won’t clean as well. There are several things you can do to prevent grease lice; wash hot once in a while, rinse extra, don’t use too much detergent, leave the door open, wipe the rubbers (e.g. of the door) regularly and keep an eye on the filter.

How often should you clean the filter of a washing machine

Maintaining your washing machine is very important if you want it to do its job well and last a long time. Cleaning the filter is part of that. We recommend cleaning your washing machine’s filter regularly – at least once every six months. If the filter becomes clogged, the water can no longer be drained properly. As a result, water will remain in the bottom of the drum, even when the wash program is satisfied. This is a problem that you would rather prevent than fix. Therefore, try to clean the filter of your washing machine at least once every six months.
