Information about LG washing machines
LG is a South Korean company that sells household products, among other things. LG may not be very well known as a washing machine manufacturer, but it has been producing decent and affordable washing machines for years.
Users of an LG washing machine are especially pleased with the price-quality ratio. They offer good washing machines for relatively low prices. An independent survey by the Consumers’ Association rated the LG brand with 8.0 for brand satisfaction based on their washing machines.
LG distinguishes itself by using new technologies, smart designs and a host of features to make washing as easy and quick as possible for the user. Perhaps you are not yet familiar with all the features and technologies of a washing machine from LG. That’s why we’re happy to explain them to you.
LG washing machine technology
LG Direct Drive
LG washing machines that feature a Direct Drive motor generally operate extra quietly, economically, and durably. This is a brushless motor that prevents unnecessary friction. In this way, with a Direct Drive motor, you have less noise and wear and tear, and you wash energy efficiently. All new LG washing machines have a Direct Drive motor. LG provides a 10-year warranty on this motor.
With these washing machines, you have the option of a front-loader and a top-loader in one. It is basically in combination of two washing machines. You have the regular washer (Main Washer) with a large drum, and you can buy a small washer (Mini Washer) with it and pair it with your LG washer. The small washer is suitable for towels, baby clothes and delicate laundry, among other things. You use both washing drums at the same time or separately.
With LG TurboWash, you can wash a half-full load hygienically in no time. TurboWash gives you the option of completing wash programs within 39 or 59 minutes. This can be very nice if your favorite outfit needs to be washed quickly, or if your laundry is not really dirty but smells musty. Do you think you can benefit from this? Then choose a washing machine from LG with Turbowash. The name of the new LG washing machine will tell you whether it has TurboWash or not.
LG Steam washing machines have a steam function that is perfect for removing bacteria, pet hair and pollen from your laundry. By using steam, your clothes wear less quickly, you have less wrinkles and you use less energy while washing. Troubled by unwanted odors? Your new LG Steam washer will get rid of them!
Buying an LG washing machine: What to Look Out For
A brand can be a fine and reliable indicator of which washing machine suits you best. Perhaps you have good experiences with the LG brand or you have heard promising stories. But of course, there are more things to consider when buying a new washing machine. Washing machines are complicated devices with different specifications and features. Below you can see exactly what you need to consider when buying an LG washing machine.
Types of Washers
With washing machines, you often have the choice between a front-loading and a top-loading machine. The front-loading one is the most popular and also more readily available. These have the door on the front, making it easy to put a dryer on top of your washer. Top loaders have the door at the front, which can be convenient because you don’t have to bend over as much. LG does not have top loading washing machines. However, you can add a small LG Mini Washer to your Main Washer (top loader) using LG TwinWash. Looking for a regular top loader? Then you’ll have to look at other brands. Miele and AEG do offer top loaders, for example.
The fill weight is one of the most important features of a washing machine. It determines how many kg of laundry fits in the drum. How much fill weight you need depends largely on the size of the household. If you are 1 or 2 persons, choose a washing machine with a 6 or 7 kg fill weight. If you have 3 or 4 people, we recommend 8 kg. Are you with 5 people or more? Then it’s best to look at a washing machine with 9 kg fill weight or more. LG produces washing machines with 8 kg, 9 kg and 10 kg fill weights. They also have a model with 17 kg fill weight.
The energy class of a washing machine is also sometimes called energy label. This indicates how energy efficient the device is. Energy efficient washing machines have energy class A, B or C and are generally slightly more expensive. Good to know: in use they are much cheaper, they keep your energy bill low. This allows you to save money by buying an energy-efficient washing machine. LG washing machines are always somewhere between energy class A and E.
The RPM gives an indication of how dry your laundry will be after the spin. The higher the RPM is, the faster the drum spins and the drier your laundry will be. For the driest laundry possible, choose a washer with 1600 rpm. However, there is only one LG washing machine that makes 1600 rpm. Most make up to 1400 rpm during the spin cycle. 1400 rpm (rounds per minute) is also considered a high speed.
Not all washing machines make the same amount of noise. If you want a quiet washing machine, look at ‘spin sound level’ for this. This gives an indication of how much noise the washing machine produces while spinning in decibels. Washing machines are divided into 4 categories: loud (78 dB or more), normal (74 dB to 77 dB), quiet (72 dB or 73 dB) and very quiet: (71 dB or less). Most LG washing machines are quiet, but there are also several models that fall under the “normal” or “extra quiet” category.
