Sell your old washing machine

Sometimes you may need a new washing machine or other white goods appliance, while your old one may still have a few years left in it. If this is the case, you can try to sell your old appliance.

This way you can make someone else happy and make some money too. It can be a hassle, but in many cases it is worth the money. Pick up or delivery? For what amount? And when do we make the switch?

If you think your washing machine deserves a second life but you’re not ready to sell it, you can also take it to a charity shop. Many thrift stores also offer a pickup service for larger appliances, such as washing machines and other white goods.

Washroom pickup by seller

Many stores offer to pick up your old washing machine when they deliver your new one – regardless of its condition – and for free! The only requirement is that both appliances are the same size and belong to the same product category. At some (big) stores you can also hand in old appliances, without having to buy anything. Whether you are planning to buy a new product or not, we advise you to find out in advance what the conditions are of the shop you have in mind. This way you will be well prepared for when they come to pick up your things or when you return your appliances.

Webshops and stores do this for many white goods. For example, you can go there with your old fridge, dryer or dishwasher. These electrical appliances need to be replaced after a number of years, but are not ready for the rubbish dump yet. They are full of valuable raw materials, such as aluminium and copper, which are reused. A good way to get rid of your discarded appliances and help the environment at the same time!

Give your old white goods to the municipality

If you hand in your old white goods at the municipality, they will disassemble the device and use the valuable and reusable materials to make something new. By recycling you avoid unnecessary waste and a scarcity of resources. There are a number of ways to return your old washing machine to your local authority – regardless of condition:

  • You can return your old appliance to a local authority collection point or waste site;
  • Or you can make an appointment with your local authority. They will then pick up your old washing machine free of charge.

The return of white goods to the recycling centre and the collection of an old appliance are both free of charge.
