Old washing machine pickup
What to do with your old washing machine or other white goods? This is a question that many people are struggling with. Whether your old washing machine still works or not, you have several options to get rid of it. Take it away, have it picked up? For free or for money? We have listed all the ways to get rid of it for you!
Sell your old washing machine
Sometimes you’re ready for a new washing machine or other white goods appliance, while your old one might still last a few years. If this is the case, you can try to sell your old appliance. For example through the advertisement board of your local supermarket or simply through Marketplace.
This way you will make someone else happy and you will also earn some money. It can be a hassle, but in many cases it is worth the money.
Pick up or delivery? For what amount? And when do we make the switch? You arrange it the way you want!
If you think your washing machine deserves a second life, but you don’t feel like selling it, you can also take it to a thrift store. Many thrift stores also offer a pickup service for larger appliances like washing machines and other white goods.
Washing machine pickup by seller
Many stores offer to pick up your old washing machine when they deliver your new one – regardless of its condition – and for free! However, it is required that both appliances are the same size and belong to the same product category. You can also return old appliances at some (large) stores, without having to buy anything. Whether you are planning to buy a new product or not, we advise you to find out in advance what the conditions are of the store you have in mind. That way you are well prepared when they come to pick up your things or you are going to hand in your appliances.
Webshops and stores do this for many white goods. You can also go there with your old fridge, dryer or dishwasher. These electrical appliances have to be replaced after a few years, but are not ready for the garbage dump yet. They are full of valuable raw materials, such as aluminum and copper, which are reused. A good way to get rid of your discarded appliances and help the environment at the same time!
Handing in at the municipality
When you hand in your old white goods to the municipality, they will disassemble the appliance and use the valuable and reusable materials to make something new. By recycling you avoid unnecessary waste and a scarcity of resources. There are several ways to return your old washing machine to the municipality – regardless of its condition:
- You can hand in your old appliance at a municipal collection point or environmental yard;
- Or you can make an appointment with your municipality. Then they will come and pick up your old washing machine for free.
Both the return of white goods to the recycling centre and the collection of an old appliance are free of charge.
