How full may a washing machine

How much laundry fits in a washing machine depends on the size of the washing machine. For this, we look at the number of kg of fill weight. There are washing machines with a fill weight starting at 6 kg, and this can go up to 12 kg. There are some exceptions with a fill weight of 17 kg. We recommend that you do not exceed the maximum load for your washing machine; this will not get all your laundry equally clean and you could damage the appliance. If you don’t know or can’t remember the maximum load for your washing machine, we recommend you consult the user manual. Don’t have it anymore? Then you can often find out by googling the model.

How long does a washing machine last

The lifespan of a modern washing machine is generally between 10 and 13 years. However, exactly how long the washing machine will last depends on several factors, such as how often you use it and how well you maintain it. The brand can also play a big role in this. Washing machines from AEG, Siemens and Bosch tend to last longer than those from other brands. Especially Miele washing machines have a long lifespan, according to research by the Consumers’ Association. According to that research, owners of Miele washing machines do on average 16 to 17 years with their washing machine. Washing machine brands such as Miele, AEG, Siemens and Bosch are often more expensive than other brands. But because of their long lifespan, they are often worth the investment.

Why use a pull switch for a washing machine

A pull switch is a switch that you operate with a cord. By pulling the cord, you easily flip the switch. By means of a red ramp, you can see whether it is on or off. The purpose of a pull switch is to prevent the group to which your washing machine is connected from becoming overloaded. Pull switches are not mandatory, but are generally recommended when the group value of the washing machine is not on a 30 milliAmpere earth fault, or the connection of the washing machine is in the bathroom. In this case, a pull switch is extra safe because the electrical connection is waterproof, and thus protected from the moisture in your bathroom.

What is swaying of a washing machine

Swaying is another word for centrifuge. A washing machine does this as one of the last parts of the wash cycle. The drum then spins as fast as it can to squeeze as much of the remaining water out of the laundry as possible. After the centrifuge/swing, the water is pumped off. Most washing machines today also have the option to spin and drain only. This can be useful, for example, if you have washed something by hand, and it only needs to be wiped dry. Centrifuging is also often the part of the wash cycle where the washing machine gets loudest.

How long can laundry stay in the washing machine

In general, you can leave your laundry in the drum for up to 12 hours after the wash cycle has ended. If you leave your laundry in the drum too long after washing, it may start to smell. And some times this seems to happen faster than others, so we recommend putting your laundry in the dryer or hanging it up as soon as possible. Under certain circumstances, laundry can start to smell faster; for example, if it is very hot outside or if your washing machine is not very clean. Certain types of laundry will also smell faster than others, for example sportswear.

How deep is the drain of a washing machine

Your washing machine’s drain hose should be 15 inches into the drain pipe, but not deeper as that can cause leaks. Most drain hoses come with a support bracket. That plastic bracket helps keep the drain hose from sinking too deeply into the drain pipe. If you want to connect multiple drains to one drain pipe – for example, a washer and dryer – you will need an extra y-piece for this. Your washing machine’s manual will also tell you more about the dimensions of the drain hose and the height of the drain pipe. These measurements can help you to correctly connect your drain hose to the drain pipe.

Until what time can you run a washing machine

There are no legal rules or guidelines about when you can turn on your washing machine. In fact, because electricity is often cheaper on weekends and nights, this is the time for many to do their laundry. However, in some cases, such as apartment complexes, using a washing machine can be a nuisance at night. During the spin cycle, a washing machine can produce quite a bit of noise. There are guidelines and rules about producing noise during the night, but very few washing machines – if they are positioned correctly and used properly – exceed this limit.
