Type of tumble dryer
We previously explained the difference between the different types of tumble dryers: airflow dryer, condenser dryer and heat pump dryer. Airflow dryers are the cheapest of these and use the most energy. Heat pump dryers are the most expensive, but also the most energy efficient. For that reason, heat pump dryers are often the cheapest to run, and the most economical in the long run. There are also heat pump dryers in energy class B and condenser dryers with energy label A+++. To keep your energy costs down, choose an energy-efficient dryer.
Condensation drain
The moisture that your dryer extracts from your laundry naturally has to go somewhere. Dryers have 3 ways of getting rid of the water. Air extraction dryers drain the moisture via a hose to the outside, through a window or a hole in the wall. With both the heat pump dryer and the condenser dryer, you have a choice. Almost all of them have a hose that can be connected to the water drainage system, but they also have a condensation tank. This is a tank that needs to be emptied regularly. Choose this option if you do not have a water drain near your dryer.
Fill Weight
The fill weight indicates the capacity of the dryer. In other words, how many pounds of laundry will fit in the drum. We recommend that you buy a tumble dryer with a fill weight at least as large as your washing machine. That way, you can always be sure that it will hold all your wet laundry. Still unsure about the right load? We recommend the following for a 1 or 2 person household: 6 or 7 kg. For a 3 or 4 person household, 8kg. And for a household with 5 or more people, 9 kg or more.
