In what compartment should the soda be placed in a washing machine

Soda, like vinegar, is a natural remedy for removing soap scum, bad odors and lime from your washing machine in a non-harmful way. But where do you add the soda? You can add the soda directly to the drum of your washing machine, or put it in the detergent drawer. If you add the soda to the detergent drawer, that part of your washing machine will also be cleaned and descaled immediately. A cup (or a big handful) of soda is basically enough for this. Then you can start a normal wash program at 60 degrees or warmer. 90 degrees is recommended. It is best to clean your washing machine in this way once a month.

How does a water seal in washing machine work

A water lock on your washing machine protects against water damage when the washing machine starts to leak. Therefore, check whether your (new) washing machine has a built-in water lock or not. Are you buying a second hand washing machine? Check if the water trap is still intact. A small damage to the water seal can get out of hand! There are 3 different water locks: a bottom sensor, hose lock and overflow protection. The bottom sensor is a built-in water tank, the hose protection stops the water supply and the overflow protection pumps the water away again. Ideally, you will have all three of these water locks connected to your washing machine.

What does a washing machine cost per time

Looking at energy costs, a washing machine uses an average of 0.5 kWh per wash. That is equivalent to about 0.12 euros. The cost of water is around 0.07 euros per wash. So you end up with an average of 0.19 euros per wash. How much you exactly spend per wash depends on a number of factors. Not every washing machine and every laundry program uses the same amount of energy and/or water. In addition, the current energy and water prices also play a role. Finally, what you can also count on are the costs for your detergent and any fabric softener.

How to clean a washing machine

Cleaning your washing machine regularly keeps it capable of cleaning your clothes and makes it last longer. Ideally, check the rubbers of the washing machine after every wash and remove any security with a damp cloth. These days we wash a lot at low temperatures, which is good for the environment, our laundry and our energy bills. But this does leave a lot of soap residue in the washing machine. Therefore, try to run a wash program at 60 degrees or higher (a boiling wash) once a month. You can add a dash of vinegar (cleaning vinegar or natural vinegar), or a cup of baking soda. Both options prevent calcium deposits and help remove foul odors. Also, check the filter regularly (once every six months) and rinse it thoroughly.

How does the steam function of a washing machine work

A washing machine with steam function has several advantages. For example, it reduces your ironing, freshens your clothes easily and quickly, it is more economical on your clothes, and your laundry is cleaned thoroughly and hygienically. Washing with steam is more hygienic because steam is able to penetrate deeper into the fibers of fabric than water can. With steam, you can kill bacteria better and get rid of allergies, such as pollen, animal hair and dust mites, better. Be aware, however, that not every washing machine with a steam function offers all these benefits. There are models that have a steam function for easier ironing, but no wash/steam program for hygienic washing.

How long can laundry stay in the washing machine

In general, you can leave your laundry in the drum for up to 12 hours after the wash cycle has ended. If you leave your laundry in the drum too long after washing, it may start to smell. And some times this seems to happen faster than others, so we recommend putting your laundry in the dryer or hanging it up as soon as possible. Under certain circumstances, laundry can start to smell faster; for example, if it is very hot outside or if your washing machine is not very clean. Certain types of laundry will also smell faster than others, for example sportswear.

How big is a washing machine

When you talk about the size of a washing machine, you can aim at different aspects; the actual dimensions or the amount of fill weight. Both depend on the model of washing machine. The fill weight indicates how many pounds of laundry you can put in the drum per wash. This starts at about 6 kg and can go up to 12 kg. The size of a washing machine differs (largely) because of the type of washing machine; top loading or front loading. A front-loading washing machine usually has a height of 85 cm, a width of 60 and a depth between 60 and 70 cm. Top loaders have a height of 90 cm, a width of 40 cm and a depth of about 60 cm. As a result, top loaders often have a smaller fill weight.
